Dutch Cropper Pigeon

The Dutch Cropper pigeon is a breed of domestic fancy pigeon. As the name suggests, the breed was originated from the Netherlands.

It is related to Ghent and Pomeranian Croppers. It is a pretty old breed which was developed in the 16th century.

While being the parent breed of English Pouter pigeon, it is also the oldest and largest National fancy pigeon breed in the Netherlands. Read some more information about this breed below.

Dutch Cropper Pigeon Appearance

Dutch Cropper pigeon is a fantastic large breed with an almost horizontal stance. It has smooth and well closed feathers in it’s body. It has a long head which is well rounded with a filled higher forehead.

Neck of these birds is smooth and long. Their eyes has a dark red or orange colored iris, with small and fine ceres. Their beak is of medium length, and the color is matching the feather color.

The wattles are small and smooth. Back of the Dutch Cropper pigeon is very broad and slightly sloped in a straight line and the shoulders are very broad. Their breast is broad, deep and well fleshed.

Wings of these birds is broad and well closed, that cover the back well, and their tail is long and broad. The tail is well closed and does not touch the floor.

Their legs are of medium length with well developed muff feathers, that are thickly layered and also blend with the abundant thigh feathers.

The Dutch Cropper pigeon appears in many different color patterns.

The main color patterns of these birds include self in white, black, barred in blue, black bared, yellow, cream, mealy and blue-silver dark barred and pied.
