The Dresden Trumpeter pigeon is a breed of domestic fancy pigeon which is bred for both voice and exhibition purpose. It is from Germany and developed over many years of selective breeding.
This breed and other varieties of domesticated pigeons, all are descendants from the wild or feral rock pigeon.
The breed is also known by the names such as Tambour de Dresde, Dresdner Trommeltaube and Tamburo in dresda.
The breed was actually developed in Saxony, parts of Dresden (Germany). It’s unknown when the breed was actually developed, but probably in the mid to late of the 1800s.

Dresden Trumpeter Pigeon Appearance
Dresden Trumpeter pigeon is an average sized breed with beautiful appearance. It is only slightly sturdier than the most common field pigeon.
Head of these birds is medium in size, and not quite so powerful as the double-crested Trumpeter pigeon. The shell crest should be broad and unbroken.
Their beak color can vary depending on the variety. The beak is of dark color in blacks, flesh-colored in reds and yellows. The eyes are dark orange in color with fine cere of flesh color.
Neck of the Dresden Trumpeter pigeon is short and fairly rounded. The breast is broad as possible, full and pressed well forward. Back of these birds is fairly broad at the shoulder, and slightly sloping.
The tail is long and the wings are fairly broad with long primary feathers reaching almost to the end of the tail. Their legs are of moderate size with well feathered thighs, and have thick and full-muffed feet.
