The Holando-Argentino cattle are a dual-purpose breed of cattle raised for both milk and meat production. It was derived from the Holstein Friesian cattle, and was first introduced from the Netherlands in 1880.
The breed was introduced to the fertile regions of the Pampas and devoted to both milk and meat production. Currently the Holando-Argentino cattle are mainly found in Argentina.
Now they are found in the Argentine provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Entre Ríos, as well as in small river basins in Salta, Tucumán, Formosa, Catamarca and Mendoza.
The breed has also been exported to some neighboring countries where they are currently raised primarily for milk production.
They appeared in National Exhibition in 1890 organized by the Rural Society Argentina with large numbers of them being exported by the dutch government.

Holando-Argentino Cattle Characteristics
Holando-Argentino cattle are medium sized animals with fine skin, fine neck, wide nose and flat bones.
The cows have good udder attachments, ligament and teat placement. They have a large barrel allowing them to have a high intake of forage.
Average height of the animals is about 140 to 150 cm. And mature animals on average weight about 600 to 650 kg. Info form Wikipedia.

The Holando-Argentino cattle are excellent animals for milk production. They are well adapted to the local climates and they are excellent foragers.
They have good legs and feet which allow them extensive foraging. Like most other dairy cattle breeds, these animals are also of relatively calm temperament.
