Common Goldfish

The Common goldfish is the simplest variation of all goldfish varieties. It is also known as Feeder fish or Feeder goldfish. Common Goldfish Characteristics

Body of the Common goldfish is elongated and flat. Their head is short but wide and they have a smooth tampering body shape from it's back and belly to the base of the caudal fin. The fins of these fish are generally fully erect and the edge of the dorsal fin is slightly concave.

Generally the Common goldfish come in a variety of colors. Their common coloration includes calico, black, orange, white and yellow. But the most common variation of these fish is a shiny-orange, and the second most common coloration is a mix of white and red. Yellow and white coloration are rare, but fully black is uncommon. Diet

The Common goldfish are omnivorous just like many other goldfish varieties. They will eat almost everything offered.

Breeding

Unlike many other goldfish varieties, breeding the Common goldfish is relatively easy. The male will develop small white spots on his gill covers and the female will become plump in breeding conditions. The male will generally chase the female until she releases her eggs. After releasing the eggs, the male will release milt and they will become fertilized. On an average, a female can produce up to 1,000 eggs per spawning.
